The Centre For Peace Initiatives In Africa Has Invited Experienced Professionals To Serve As Facilitators For Its Training Programmes. Among them are:
Professor Hope Sadza is the founder of Women's University in Africa and its current Vice Chancellor.
She has won several awards from 2006, in Nigeria, Washington DC, and Zimbabwe. She was the Director of the year (Public Service) Award in 2007. In 2009 she won the most prestigious Fulbright Scholarship tenable in the United States of America, being one of the three recipients in Africa.? The awards were given in recognition of her founding the first Women?s University in Africa in 2002.
Dr. Leonard Tsumba was the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe from 1993 to 2003.? He served as General Manager and Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank from 1981 to 1985. In 19 was elected President of the Institute of Bankers in Zimbabwe up to.? Dr Tsumba became the Chief Executive and Managing Director of Zimbank and Finhold from 1997 to 1993 and Vice President of CITIBANK USA from 1977 to 1981.? He also served as the Consultant, Money and Finance Division of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in 1979. He is a Member of The Institute of Directors UK
Currently apart from serving as an Eminent Person of the Centre for Peace Initiatives in Africa, Dr Tsumba is the Chairman of CABS and Dairibord Zimbabwe and a member of various Zimbabwe corporate boards.

Maria Tsvere is a Lecturer in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Institute of Life Long Learning. She is a holder of a Master of Science Education degree in Physics, Bachelor of Physics education (UZ) and certificate in Education (Science).She is currently a Doctor of Philosophy Student researching on e-learning in university education and research. Part of her coursework covered conflict and leadership. Her research interest includes technology diffusion and integration, Peace building, human security issues. She has been a lecturer in university settings for the past 9 years.
Ms Tsvere was involved in the introduction of Conflict Transformation, Peace and Human Security university Education Curriculum development right from the study visits to skills development funded by UNDP and later completed through Africa University. She participated in the development and production of the Peace Leadership and Conflict Transformation university curriculum Guide that was published through Africa University.? She has been trained as a mediator, Trainer of trainer in Conflict Transformation and Case writing through UNDP and the Centre for Conflict resolution Cape Town with facilitators who included UPeace, Ethiopia. She has facilitated at several Conflict transformation training workshops in Zimbabwe and has taught the subject at undergraduate level in the university
Ms Tsvere is interested in research with special interest on e-learning, gender and development issues and sustainable environment, human security and peace building. The Department she is working for is currently conducting a project that focuses on engaging the community in environment waste management. She has experience as a consultant in mainstreaming gender related issues such as energy; Gender based violence, situation of the girl child/education of the girl child.
Ms Tsvere is a member of several professional bodies, current deputy Chair for the Zimbabwe Anon fiction Authors Association, National Executive Secretary for the Forum for African Women Educationalist, Zimbabwe Chapter (FAWEZI) and has been a research journal paper reviewer for the past 6 years.?
Father Fidelis Mukonori is the CPIA Executive Director and author of the book Genesis of Violence in Zimbabwe.? He is a also the Principal of Chishawasha Mission Primary School as well as Parish Priest of Chishawasha Parish, Delegate for Jesuit Provincial for Chishawasha Estate.
Father Mukonori holds. Diploma, Certificate in Theology (1975): 1975 Regional Major Seminary, Chishawasha, Diploma in Social Development: Coady International Institute, Saint Francis XAVIER University of Canada (1981), Diploma in Philosophy:? Regional Major Seminary, Chishawasha (1987), Bachelor of Theology (BTH):? Hekima College. He also holds a Masters of Theology (MTH) degree from Berkeley, California, USA (1977).
Dr Leonard T Kapungu is a former United Nations Official. He served the United Nations for 33 years in various capacities including being the Director of Political Affairs for United Nations Operations in Somalia, and being the Director of Lessons Unit of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations. As the Director of the Lessons Learned Unit, Dr Kapungu visited most of the conflict ridden countries in Africa meeting and consulting with the leaders involved in the conflicts. He was also the Desk Officer of United Nations Operations in Rwanda during the sad period when genocide was perpetrated in that country. He also served as a professor of African Studies at a number of Universities in the United States including the University of Maryland
On retirement from the United Nations Dr. Kapungu together with other international eminent persons formed the Centre for Peace Initiatives in Africa Regional Non-Governmental Organization dedicate to conflict prevention and conflict resolution throughout Africa to ensure sustainable peace and development. On retiring as the Executive Director of CPIA Dr Kapungu became the Director of the General Emmanuel Erskine Research and Documentation Centre of CPIA.? Dr Kapungu holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and is the author of several books and articles.
Prof George Payne Kahari was awarded ?The international Man of the Year? by the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England (1997-1998).? He also served as the Director of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe of Zimbabwe in 1994.? In 1993 he was awarded the Gold liberation Decoration and Silver Liberation Medals of the Republic of Zimbabwe.? He also served as the President of Friends of a Catholic University in Zimbabwe (FOCUZ) in 1989.? Prof. Kahari was also the Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of Italy and Czechoslovakia form 1989 to 1993.

He was appointed Chairman of the Foundation Committee of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST and became its first Vice Chancellor for 14 years until his retirement.? He served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University if Botswana and as Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe for 10 years.?? He was also Chairman of the Eastern and Southern African Universities Research Programme, Chairman of the Zimbabwe School of Examination Council (ZIMSEC), inaugural chairman of the National Council of Higher Education as well as member of the Board of the International Foundation for Science.? Prof. Phinias Makhurane served as alternative Board member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.? He was also a Consultant of the European Commission on the Development of the Faculty of Science f the University of Swaziland; member of the Namibian Presidential Commission on Higher Education and former member of the Council of the University of Zambia.
Prof Makhurane was one of the two first African to major in Physics and Mathematics at the University College of Rhodesia Nyasaland.? He was the first Zimbabwean to Acquire a PhD in hard Science as well as the second PhD graduand in Zimbabwe. He also obtained a Diploma in Geophysics in 1973 from the University of Uppsala and did a Senior University Management Course from the University of Western Ontario in 1973.?
